Home of the Sellindge Music Festival
The idea of the Sellindge Music Festival was conceived in early 2003 by Andre Double who wanted to combine his love for music alongside his grandfather’s ambition of staging a music festival. Andre used the backdrop of the Sellindge Steam Special – a family event of over 35 years to launch a single music marquee in 2005. Playing on bare grass, with a hastily hired PA, over 20 acts put on a solid show for those brave enough to walk to the top of the field.
The following year saw the marquee move and double in size and local artist Nic Bennett arriving on the scene.
By 2007, the music within the Steam Rally had continued to grow, with a number of outstanding bands now appearing. A folk tent was added and more help arrived in the form of Kate Sampson. The groundwork had been done and planning for a first dedicated music festival in 2008 was well underway.
Sellindge Music Festival does not intend to copy …. It does not intend to follow … it intends to lead!
