Hi all,

So the summer is nearley over and winter is on its way. we have a fantastic open air music venue in Deal up on the seafront outside the kings head, port arms & Dunkerleys resturaunt that nobody can use because one Hotelier is being really stubborn and not conforming with the other local pubs, so the local pubs (good guys) are saying play 1 gig up there and you will loose all your gigs  with us and hole in the roof and rightly so

Basicaly the problem lies with Ian dunkerly from the resturant who wants to start the music on the front at 3pm but this then clashes with the clarendons music which starts at 4 pm and the argument is that the 3 pubs (port arms, Kings head & dunkerleys) will loose lunch time trade if started any earlier so

should we the bands get involved with this and try to get it resolved with the pubs / council as the pubs in dispute dont seem to be, and lets face it guy's they are missing out on some really good bands because of this

we (the Interseptors) & i belive EK1 & counterfiet notes have all been told this and no doubt many of you guys have too

why not change the music to a sat afternoon or even start the music earlier on a sunday lets face it< its not bloody rocket science!!

what do you guys think

The saddest thing for me, as a Deal resident and as a Deal muso, is to compare what could be happening on that bandstand spot in Deal with the SWARMING mass of punters out having a great time - and out spending their bucks - in Broadstairs last Sunday when I depped there during Folk Week.

Which of the two towns is winning?
Not hard to answer that!

Easy answer

Midweek evening all through the summer holidays (every Thursday for e.g)

No sense imo to piss off Deals music trade on a Sunday

Clarendon 4-7

Hole in the roof and now the New Inn 8-11

Kings Head (occasionally) same times

Thats far too much for one day

Hi Brian,

from what i've been told from the other landlords/music organisers basically is that ian dunkerley wants to put the music on the front at the same time as the clarendon becaus any earlier it will disrupt his lunch time trade so in theory is in compation with the clarry do you have any further on this???
