because you can learn something from playing with pretty much anyone! they wouldn't have to be the most amazing band in the world!

Yet his pretentious attitude will proclude him from being able to work with people.

Let's face it, he's got good technique, if he doesn't start playing with real people that's all he'll have and he'll be no use to anyone, just one of those sad twats posting youtube video's from his bedroom to impress others like him.

That sort of playing 'moves' no one that ever leaves their house, the only reason there's fuss at the moment is because of his age, if an adult was doing it then no one would take any notice because what he's playing is boring as fuck!

My point is that one can only learn so much from books and Steve Vai tuition video's, even playing with bad players you can learn how NOT to do things, to be so precious as to say that no one is good enough for him is cuntish, and, i suspect, in no small part down to the ego building of a pushy father.

I suspect this clip will have done him no favours at all. It might endear him to the kids whose idea of guitar playing is shredding a hundred notes per nano-second, but I can't see him getting any work out of it.

And anyway, his axe cost two grand? WTF?

If someone were to go through all your posts and see what you write on here, they would see that you were just one massive contradiction.

It's as if you just want to argue the other side.  But in doing that, you ending up proving previous arguments that you were involved with.

I've never tried to catch you out.

You've never "shot me down in flames".

I'm just saying it how it is.

I could sit here and right an essay as to how and why, but I got shit to do.  Life and all that.

I can see how the phrase 'good enough'; might seem rude.  Would you be able to see where I'm coming fom if he had used the phrase ' not technically accoplished enough'?  That's how I read what the reporter said.

it's the same thing!

To have the mindset that you wouldn't play with anyone who is not up to your standard is utterly stupid!

What if he finds people that are better than him? surely they wont want to play with him? so he'll have to find people of the EXACT ability to play with!

A band is generally made up of all kinds of technical abilities, but sometimes what someone may lack in one respect they can bring to the party in another, e.g. Mick Jagger isn't the most technical singer in the world, yet his way of putting a song across and performance is up there with the best!

There's a reason why George Harrison will always be more famous than Steve Vai!

I think you (or possibly I) are missing the point here.

Is it not possible that he has an idea in his mind of what he wants to play and what sort of music he wants to be involved in?  What if that idea involves a certain level of proficiency?  Is it really reasonable to suggest that he should just for get it and jam with anyone and maybe try something new?    Why cant he persue what he wants??

Judging by what I've seen on this short newsclip, I rather got the impression this young lad doesn't really want other musos of a similar abilty - he just wants some sycophants to play along in the background while he feeds his monstrous ego. He doesn't want a band, he wants to be the band.

Probably sees himself as the new Malmsteen or SRV... alongside the other 2,374 young shredders that see themselves that way..

Man, I'm dissappointed at the negativatity that this news report has provoked.  Seems such a shame.    Is there not the slightest chance that he's actually quite a nice bloke with decent intentions who just happens to have dedicated a lot of his energies to learning to play the guitar?

Maybe?

Quite possibly. But you can only form an opinion with the facts at hand. That's why I said in a previous post that this clip hasn't done him any favours. He might be a really terrific young lad who is also a great guitarist - but from what I've seen I just don't think so.

And yet I formed the exact opposite opinion.

Benefit of the doubt and all that perhaps?
