Lol...can you imagine the longevity of:

A) The seventy pounds.

B) The guitar.

and C) The un-blackened eyes.

...if he tried to do that on Dover beach?

That's a talented kid that wants to achieve something, I wish him all the best of luck, not that he really needs it as I'm guessing that he's pretty focused alreadyCool

The bit about his dad needing to drum for him because other kids weren't up to his standard made me want to punch him.

It was just so smug and self-satisfying.

Edit to remove a double post and elaborate a bit...

The beauty of music is that you'll meet a range of brilliant characters that will range from knowing every scale under the sun to knowing three chords, that can drum eight billion bpm, or just know the simplest beat.  This lad has already drawn up snooty musical boundaries, and at thirteen, thats really smug and annoying.

Maybe punch him was a bit strong, but its still bloody annoying to me.

Where do you get this stuff from dude?

What if all the 13yr old kids he's jammed with can't play the kind of music that he wants to play?  Surely that is every musicians choice?  Why limit yourself by working in an environment that forces you to compromise your playing or song writing?

I think in all fairness you'll find it pretty hard to argue against that concept.

Yes and no.

Its those words man, "not up to his standards", I don't like them one bit.  Alright fair enough for what he's doing he wants those he plays with to be accomplished, but he's costing himself one of those beautiful joys of jamming around; the true variety.

Surely that's just speculation on your part though dude?  I'm 'speculating' that he has jammed with people and that he is in the situation that he's in because of the results of those jam sessions.

Now I'm not the best guitarist/singer/songwriter around  but I do know that I expect a huge amount from any drummer that I work with.  If they can't deliver what's in my head - or their own accurate interpretation of it then I cant work with them, it's that simple.

Like I said before , why should any of us compromise our musical dreams for no good reason?

i agree with moral here, i'm sure he could still enjoy playing with other people regardless of their standard (to a degree) for people not be up to his standard is a pretty stupid thing to say!

Take myself for  example, no one is up to my standard so i just have to find people who are pretty good otherwise i'd just be playing with myself on brighton pier being bitter and a bit gay.

He's got the skills to pay the bills but all i thought when i watched it was, yeah, good player for his age, bet it's the last we hear of him though!! (probably not his dad mind)

Maybe he could enjoy playing with other people but why should he have to compromise his goals when he doesn't have to?
