Someone hacked my PayPal account - I'm not sure quite how as I'm fairly computer literate - I think they fished for passwords elswhere and I had foolishly used my PayPal password for other things.

Luckily I spotted the transactions before the money had been transferred from my account.

I contacted paypal immediately.   They said it looked suspicious and would investigate.  I told them I wanted to stop the transfer going through.  I was told not to worry.

As a precaution I contacted my bank and told them to stop the transfers and any further transfers from PayPal going through.

A couple of days later PayPal complained that I had reneged on a deal.  Not only had they themselves failed to stop the attempted transfer but blamed me for doing so.  I closed my PayPal account immediately.

Anyway - for secure and financial transactions - use a different password to your MrGig (or any other "trivial") password.

Never click on a link in an email that requests you to enter your personal details.  If concerned, go directly to your PayPal (or whatever) account.  These scams work by redirecting the user to a site that the conmen have set up that looks like the official PayPal site and then they capture your details which they then use for future naughtiness.

Yea, I get these a lot, dude.

Do what Dud says.  Don't click on it, but moniter any changes in your account from Paypal itself.  DON'T go via that e-mail.  It probably has a keylogger.
