Does anybody here have any? I don't. Music is pretty much all I do with my time: playing, recording, writing, jamming, or just practising guitar riffs and stuff.
I play the odd round of golf, but that's about it. Even my reading matter reflects my obsession - I'm currently reading all about the making of 'Pet Sounds'....again!

I'm getting back into basketball.  I like cycling a lot too, but the fun has been taken out a bit by the fact I have to keep doing it at three in the morning on my way to work...comics is quite a hobby too, near impossible to follow here though.

I'm the same as you spike, music seems to occupy a healthy amount of time.  Even the books I read seem to be mostly music orientated...

I like to try different Cuban cigars and I read books and reviews about them.  This is an expensive hobby so I can only indulge in great ones now and again.  A muso mate is honeymooning in Havana right now and is bringing me some choice ones back very soon.  New ones as well as tried and tested favourites.

Everything else is music based.  I tried learning the sax for a few months but I was very lazy and didn't get anywhere at all.  I intend to take myself further on acoustic guitar but must buy a new one first.

My missus and older son have degrees in Art (older son does his final year at Uni in October), so I like to try painting, drawing and film-making (don't mock) when they are at it.  I am hopeless, really, but I like trying.

I'm glad I enjoy playing in the band because I think I'd spend my off-duty hours from teaching in a pretty depressed state (league tables, failing schools, OFSTED, etc) if nothing engaged me.  It's certainly got to me in the past, but it won't happen again.

I've tried painting and cross-stitch and it's ok, but a bit time consuming (and I'm not very good). i prefer to try and keep home. That's a full time task in itself. Spare time i tend to plonk about on the piano (or Keri's keyboard at the moment). C'est bon.

Didnt three Dover schools fail BADLY this inspection?

Infact, I think all three have been rated the lowest in the country or something?

Kris

Those lists of SCHOOLS THAT SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN is a travesty.  It's scare-mongering.  Many of the schools nationally on that list have been graded good to excellent by Ofsted.  The government, especially Ed Balls, have contradicted their inspectors' findings.

I hope you good folk don't go along with Academies as cures.  Build a spanking new school in a seriously deprived area and you will have the same sociological problems.

See!  I'm back from playing a gig, and none of that stuff was in my mind at all! Grin

My colleagues and I feel sick when something - ANYTHING - comes on the radio about schools and schooling.

A good cigar takes all troubles away for an hour or two. Wink

It used to be drumming, martial arts, canoing, brewing beer, camping, hiking...

Now my biggest hobby is laziness, which leaves little time for much else.
