30 is definately too old, if you want to be under 30.

I'm nearly 40 and  still as fat as I was when I was nearly 39. I just have more guitars and a bigger shed!!

Working with youth makes me feel old.  I thought it would make me feel young.

When I'm away from that enviroment, I still feel 16.  Just a little more pissed off.

I think the only thing that matters is if you have kids or not.  You have to grow up when they arrive.

i'm still waiting for mine to arrive.

I'm sure there's some out there!

My girlfriend has a constant fear that one day my past will catch up with me and there will be some bird with a 3 year old at the door wanting my moneyLaughing

Maybe grow up werent good words.

"Become more responsible" are probably better.

tried to act really cool in a ball park the other day with an outreach street team... went in goal didnt i...

said to them, dont be weak kicck it hard (because I noted they were not putting full force into their shots at goal and I wanted to appear 'cool')

bloody hell - ball hit me straight in the face, broke my glasses and cut my nose. Eyes filled with water and I couldnt see for about 2 minutes. looked like a real plonker and felt very old!

Awwwww!

LaughingLaughingLaughing

See, if that was me in Aylesham, the game would actually stop, and become a new game of "get as many balls as you can, and hit them as hard as you can at the youth worker.  The goal is now blood."

haha - apparently it was a really engaging and successful session! the yp were off the street etc, but after he did it he was so remorseful - his mate even had a go at him so in many ways I felt it highlighted a positive attitude? compassion?

generally though i have learnt a lot and can identify different approaches that people use with kids and yp

we will have to chat on msn some time, i dont want to post on here too much detail.

when i was on my gap year, doing youth work in manchester, i made the mistake of telling a few of the lads in the club that i used to box, the bigger ones all took that as a challenge! the goal of blood was achieved!

i'm becoming very aware of my age when i'm teaching kids.

I've got a 10 year old girl that i'm teaching and i make sure i get things for her to learn which she can relate e.g. songs she knows.

not easy with a ten year old, let alone a girl!!! I find myself suggesting songs that she might know and then realise what i thought was recent she wasn't even born!!!

I keep thinking that i bet she thinks i'm really old and not the cool rock star that i imaging myself to beLaughing

makes you wonder why people think you have to act a certain way because of your age,
