June 14th & 15th 11am – 5pm Rebellion 1648

An event based on the dramatic Summer of 1648 when the people of Kent rose up against the rule of the Army and Parliament. It will depict the Kentish rebels preparing for war; throughout the day soldiers will be drilling and making bullets.  Food for the garrison will be cooked over an open fire, whilst the gentry make their plans to resist the New Model Army.  At around 3pm, The Army will attack in an attempt to seize back the castle. Normal admission applies, English Heritage Members half price.

Upnor Castle is situated at the end of the High Street in Upper Upnor.  It is open daily from Easter until the end of October.  Admission is £4.50 adults, £3.50 children and concessions, £12.50 family ticket.   Phone 01634 718742 for more information.

Are Heritage cards valid?

Is there decent beer (ie not Sheperd Neame)?

Can we kill commoners?

No beer - how gay is that?

Someone in your dept needs sacking, and probably a kicking first.

That'd be me.  Well actually the licence doesn't stretch to that I'm afraid.  Sorry!  There are some lovely pubs in Lower Upnor though and there is a Shepherd Neame pub next door to the Castle called the Tudor Rose.  Wink

Well beat yourself up as you write out your P45!

No licence indeed!  Apply for one, the local magistrates have so many that they often give them away with a well prepared application.

The pub next door let my little horrors use their facilities when cut short once, so  I like them, even if they do sell rusty piss water.
