every year G. for the last 20 odd.

in fact I love it so much we were still playing it in feb this year. Then the band refused to play it one night.

Slade were the best band I've ever seen. (if that makes sense)

'Merry Xmas Everybody' is a must at all Christmas parties. It's been in my repertoire for many a long year now and gets a regular airing each December. It's great because if you leave it towards the end you don't have to do anything - just play the chords and the drunkards will do the rest.

I did a one-off at the White Horse (near Hawkinge) years ago just before Xmas and completely off the cuff started picking out the basic melodies to a few Christmas Carols - that was it. The audience took over. Silent Night, Good King Wenceslas, We Three KIngs and so on. One of the easiest bloody nights I've ever had.

It's okay to knock Slade and a few other's over their Xmas novelty hits, but when you're in a crowded pub and having a great night and everyone's singing along to White Christmas or any of the others, it's a fantastic feeling.
