it was just a little jokey comment, which also happens to be true.

Which makes it a statement!

Anyway, doesn'[t matter.  I've seen plenty of talented folk bands in my time.

Jim...grow the beard back, ffs.

i'm sure you have, as have I, but have you never experienced one of these?

or one of these?

Behind his beard lies a man longing to be a rock star!! he grew the beard to hide behind the fact that he can't play well enough, the warm real ale give him the superior smugness that can only come from singing songs about meeting a lassie down by the river, and still needing the sheet music even though it's only 3 chords!

True. And when they play in a different key it's the same chords with a capo on.

I grew up in Gravesend so started off my gigging life in North Kent, now that has seriously died a death, Gravesend used to be a great place to play, loads of venues & bands (orginals and covers) and both used to get an equal crack of the whip, obviously we still have a couple of pubs in Gravesend, but the town itself is missing something these days, yes there are still a lot of pubs for covers bands, but people are fed up with seeing the same bands on rotation, hence why we also play in Sussex /London / Essex etc, just to go somewhere different & not saturate the local scene.

Some folk players are very very talented, granted your average pub folk band normally aren't virtuoso's, but look at the guy's from crooked style, they're excellent,as are players like Richard Thompson, Jethro Tull, Fairport Convention etc... even Ritchie Blackmore plays folk these days.

ffs.

For me, folk players dont need to be good players anyway.  Just good storytellers.

I think most of my favourite guitarists play folk.  Lot less to hide behind....

I'm learning to accept the folk label, I think it suits me...

Fuck of old chap.

I said "for me".  Read it.  That's "for me" as in "my opinion".  There is no "right" or "wrong".  Just my opinion.

Once again, fuck off old chap.

Love you.
