I've used DW 9000's, Yamaha DFP880's, Axis AL2's, Tama Iron Cobra's and Pearl Eliminator's, and so far the Pearl pedals have been the best for me.

...I like Pearl Pedals, built well (so are the IC's).  Apparently there are weak links where the DW chains join the footplate (so I read anyway)

I use Pearl Powershifter and I'm very pleased with it but I sometimes wonder if I should have taken the DW route. Took me ages to work out which cam I should use. Freedom of choice is a hell of a burden!!!!

I tried a DW 9000 recently and it was beautifully smoooooooth!! There's nothing wrong with Pearl but if you can afford DW go for it.

Axis Longboard is possibly the very best bass drum pedal you can buy but if money is tight then DW is a good alternative.

They certainly look space age and sexy, never seen one in real life though.

Our drummer Rich swears by his pair, Dud.  Now don't get me wrong I'm no expert when it comes to drumming - I can play, thats for sure but not to the same level as Rich but the responsiveness of the pedals is unreal.  Like a a simple extension of your toes.  Even a complete clodhoopper such as I can shimmy the foot along the pedal and play doubles with one lift and tap, thius doubling the quantity of notes that each foot can produce in a given time.   I'm sure everyone has their favoureites - the ones that just feel familiar/comfortable/predictable but I would seriously recomend trying these as they are like nothing else.

According to Rich he had to re-evaluate his Kick drum timing as the effort need for a solid strike is negligible in relation to more traditionally styled/contructed units.  How found himself ahead of the groove with his feet all the time until he modified his style to suit and now he can throw the beats in like there's no tomorrow and not even the hint of a blist (he plays bare foot)
