Panic Cell+ Plus Support Live At The West Coast Bar May 10th 08

After watching Dr Who we set off to the West Coast Bar for the Metal Night put on by DTF Promotions. On arrival we were told by Tom the organiser we had missed his band which such as I wanted to catch Trial By Fire. He was enthusiastic about the set so I guess they went down well despite a few sound issues on the night.

On arrival I was told it was busy so thought there must have been about 200 in the venue but once inside there were around 60 people at most! Now I know the weather was nice but hey it's rare that Panic Cell play this neck of the woods and you'd have thought there'd have been more people out as the last time they played the venue there were 150 in for a tuesday night!

After catching up with Caz, Matt and Steve it was time for a drink - Not that I could drink much as I picked up my Post Office card instead of my cash point card!

Soon the second band were on. I'd never heard Lazarus Dogs before but they played a pretty tight Metal set which a few people in the crowd liked. I was trying to work out if one of the band members was actually wearing a wig! Still not a bad band and worthy going to see if Metal is your poison.

After chatting to a couple of people it was time for Panic Cell and from the moment they hit the stage they didn't disappoint despite working in a new drummer. It was good to see a band so positive with front man Luke giving it his all and having banter with the crowd. They played for a good hour and I can't think of one bad song they played. It was the first time I'd seen these play and I thought they kicked ass. These will go down really well in the USA when they tour there in June with Kittie. It's just sad there weren't many people there to enjoy Panic Cell making a rare local appearance.

It's a shame that a top band like Panic Cell were let down by local fans by not turning up last night. The gig was £5 to get in for three bands and while many put it down to it being sunny I'm not so sure. It doesn't matter what the weather is like - People just don't show up. They moan when there's no gigs and when people do put them on they don't show!

I had so many people telling me beforehand about the Wall Of Death pit that was going to happen and telling me how great Panic Cell are and yet none of these people showed up! There should have been 200+ in last night - No excuses.

For £5 you couldn't have wanted a better night and for Metal fans this was well worth the door fee. I'm not even a metal fan and thought the night was spot on.

The next big gig Tom + DTF put on make sure you're there!

I passed flyers out etc etc and its been on line Vince. I don't think the promoter promoted it very well which probably didn't do him many favours really.

I think Panic Cell are seriously under-rated, I have seen these guys twice now and the first time they simply blew my mind with the brilliant performance, egging on the crowd with a piggyback pit and just showing people they are simply just brilliant. The second time the bass player broke down on way to the gig and the new drummer in the band was being bloodied in and even then they still sounded good.

The album what doesnt kill us is just constantly played on my PC at home or in the car or at work, in over 8 months since I had it I just havent got bored which is quite something really I for me. At the last gig i did try and find out when they where back in devon but they didnt know, but hopefully they may tour back in exeter with speed theory again, but i would pay decent money just to see panic cell.

The energy, the passion for the music is just mind blowing...........
