Hey guys,

This is Dan Lucas from The Manor Studio. The studio has now closed and I have recently taken over the recording of bands at Barewires studio with my colleague Gavin, in Monks Horton, Kent. Some of you old-schoolers will recognise this amazing studio as the building which was Astra Audio until a few years ago.

It is a purpose-built professional level recording studio, operating around a Soundtracs 56 Channel Desk (1985), into two Motu HD192's (capable of recording at 192khz). Pre-amps and compressors from Urie, TLAudio, Joe Meek...There is also the option of recording analogue to our Studer 24-track 2" tape machine if you wish for that sound.

This is a beautiful premises, situated in a lovely part of the Kent countryside in it's own peaceful garden, five minutes from the new service station at Jct 11 and with two of the Kent's finest country pubs at either end of the lane.

We are now taking bookings for the rest of the year, and you can read about the studio (and also Gavin and myself) here:

or visit: www.barewires-studio.com

 Thanks, Dan Lucas.

Wasn't there an Astra Studio some years ago down London Street, in Folkestone? I'm sure I recorded in there a few times. As did Bob Coltart and the Maroondogs.

It was a tiny little place, someone's basement, I think. A bit like Chris Ashman's place in Harvey Street.

Hey,

You're right, there was an Astra Studio in London Street back in the early eighties, owned and operated by Dave Woolgar before he invested in the site up at Monks Horton!

- Dan.
