Bryan

Hope you like playing in alcoves. Is band communication that important....?  :-)

In fairness, last time we played there, good crowd, certainly hoppin' and boppin'.

Darned hot though.

It WAS very hot, Thund, and we enjoyed it!

We were without guitar tonight as Dan is in Deutschland currently.  We took his bits on between us as we played through.  With Phil on sax and two keys, there isn't a problem in our group.

Andy Doble has been plagued with an ear infection for about three weeks and only managed to hear himself by wedging a 20p piece in his left ear.  (I had no idea what he was doing!).  I thought he was going to fall over - he wasn't quite with it - so I kept a brotherly eye on him.

His playing - particularly the solos - was bloody spectacular despite the odds stacked against him.

I am in awe of his spontaneous melodic skill on the keyboard.  It is humbling, exciting and expressive all at the same time.  There are no set pieces.  A real talent on his instrument.   I'm privileged to play at a right angle to him.

Also bizarre was that I was the only one to have played in a band there before.  This band has played just about everywhere in East Kent on the pub circuit over the years, but never before at the Fleur de Lis.

So this was a first!
