Bassist Available
  • I have my own gear, transportation and am house trained (please provide your own litter box)
  • Very competent, I know my way round a scale or two and can usually follow unruly drummers
  • Reliable: if I say I'll be there then I'll be there! (although my timekeeping is a little flexible sometimes!)
  • Can make practice 1-2 times a week, dependant on times and days.

Looking for:

  • A project producing original choooons (so no pub covers bands, thank you muchly!)
  • Something rock/ metal/ indie/ funk/ fusion/ progressive type orientated (1 or more of those or something similar... not necessarily ALL of them!). Most of all, something interesting. I'm not really looking for something too laid back but am open to trying things out if they sound interesting.
  • Something within reasonable travel time from Canterbury, 20 mins to half hour, but am flexible if the right offer comes along
  • A band that ultimately wants to gig. I don't want to spend the whole time being cooped up but would be happy with a recording project if gigging was an ultimate aspiration

Rough inflences include (picked for their diversity!)....

Mars Volta, Arcade Fire, Muse, The Cardiacs, Smashing Pumpkins, Frank Zappa, Tool, Eagles of Death Metal, RHCP, ACDC, Spinal Tap (hee hee!), John McLaughlin, Soundgarden, Beatles, NIN, QOTSA, Faith No More, Gn'R, Led Zeppelin, Kaiser Cheifs, Pearl Jam, RATM, Pixies, Powderfinger, Wolfmother, STP, Rob Zombie, Rolling Stones, Kyuss, Primus, Sly and the Family Stone, Rush, System of a Down, They Might be Giants, White Stripes, Dillinger Escape Plan etc....

I had to leave my last band, Immune to Conventional Weapons (i2cw) when I went to Australia in 2006. I've now been back over a year and am itching to get playing again. I need a good session to blow the cobwebs out. I'm 30 but don't let that put you off as I have the mentality of a 12 year old!

IF YOU'RE INTERESTED THEN PLEASE CONTACT ME DIRECT as I don't  regularly hang out on these forums any more. You can email me at  i2cwben@yahoo.co.uk or call on 07833 151282

 Cheers, Ben.

P.S. I can knock out a bit of slap bass to fool the masses if it's really called for but if it's a slapper you're looking for then you'd better head down to Churchills as I'm not it!

One of the best players this area has to offer, with experience and equipment to boot.

Snap this guy up.  Best of the best...

Ah ha ha!!! Hello Dear sir!! An accolade from yourself then... I'm truly touched (although the case with that Priest has still yet to go to court....)

Actually since you've reminded me, I need to add a PS to the above ad....

Had a couple of responses I'm following up but nothing has been confirmed yet so if you are still in need of a bassitarist then do drop me a line. About 1/2 hour(ish) travel time from Canterbury is reasonable, although I'm open to suggestion.

I wear good hats too.

It's a pleasure to be back. I've got the itch really bad after listing to the old i2cw stuff I've got recorded. I've got a brand new kick-arse rig that's super small and light and LOVES being played loud so it seems rude to let it sit round being polite to the neighbours when it should be upsetting people 3 streets away! Evil

I'm still following up some stuff by the way so if you're waiting to hear from me (not you moral!) it's only because I've had a number of unexpected things come up over the last week.

Bump-di-bump.

I'm still on the lookout. I've a couple of contacts I'm following up but I'm still open to offers. I'm actually deeply embroiled in decorating my girlfriend's place at the moment so time is a little shorter for the next month or so. Once that is over I'll have much more spare time.

1. Why did you come back from NZ? (serious question rather than a "coz you're not welcome jibe" as the family Dud are considering the opposite migration).

2. Where's my reply or are you a convert?

Hi Dud. It was from Oz (they're really sensitive about the difference you know!). Was out there on a working holiday visa with my then girlfriend (who's Australian). You only get a year so to have gone back I would have had to emigrated.. and we brok up so there wasn't a reason anymore! Grin

I've notbeen avoiding repling to you... just postponing it! Been really busy at work (so I can't skive for an hour writing a reply) and helping my girlfriend with DIY and decorating. I wanted to do your reply justice so I'm holding off till I have the time and enthusiasm.

I'll go bump it so it doesn't disappear.

Ha ha! I must say, I had a muh lower opinion of them before I met them all. The drummer is crisp and tight as a gnat's proverbial. Everything just pretty much clicked into place. Loking forward to giging with them. Grin

Do you want to see whether we can get a joint discount on a spelling class?

I never know who's in there anymore.  Presumably Nick, but even he might end up joining Dayfall one day.  (Unless you read the missus that is...)..
